Service Points

A service point is a fixed place where orders get picked up or dropped off: a store, a parcel locker, a partner shop, a warehouse. Set them up once in Onro, attach them to a delivery method, and your customers pick from that list instead of typing an address. Drivers head to a place that exists, you stop chasing mistyped addresses, and lockers and counters run through the same flow as door to door delivery.

01Types

Four Kinds of Service Point

Onro has four service point types, and the type tells everyone what kind of place they are dealing with. Address is a plain street address, a home or an office, where the parcel is handed over directly. Parcel Locker is a self service locker, usually open around the clock at a shopping centre, a petrol station, or outside a post office. Business is a registered shop or office that takes deliveries in its opening hours. Warehouse is a larger facility built for volume, the kind used for bulk shipping and fulfilment. Mix them as you like: one delivery method can list a locker network next to a partner store next to your own hub.

02Setup

Create One in the Admin Center

Service points live under Settings, Operation Setup, Service Points in the Admin Center. Click New, give it a name, pick the type, and set the address by searching or by dropping a pin on the map. The optional slug is an identifier you can use in the API and in bulk import to point an order at this exact location. Submit, and it shows up in the list with its type, address, slug, and creation date. Editing is the same form again from the Actions menu.

03Delivery Methods

Attach Points to a Delivery Method

A delivery method decides how an order is carried out, and it has two switches: the pickup method and the delivery method, each either Address or Service Point. Flip one to Service Point and an Active Service Points box appears, where you choose which points customers can use for that leg. Only the points you tick are offered. That is how you build a “drop at any locker” method or a “collect from our counter” method, and the services that use it inherit the choice.

04Order Flows

Four Flows, One Order Form

Combining the two switches gives you four ways an order can move. Address to Address is the classic door to door job. Address to Service Point picks up at the customer’s address and drops at a point you chose, a locker or a shop. Service Point to Address is the reverse: collected from your counter or hub, delivered to the door. Service Point to Service Point is both ends fixed, useful for moving parcels between a store and a locker. When the customer places an order, they choose the service, then the delivery method, and then pick from the list of active points where one is needed. If a service has only one delivery method, that step is skipped and the customer never sees it.

Statuses Built for Service Points

Orders that pass through a service point get two statuses of their own: At Pickup Service Point and At Delivery Service Point. Your team sets them from the order details in the Admin Center, the same way as any other status. When an order is At Delivery Service Point, you can add, update, or delete routes from the same screen, so a parcel waiting at a locker or a counter can still be routed onward or out for delivery. Your dispatcher and your customer both see that the parcel has arrived at a named place rather than reading In Transit for another day.

Update Orders at the Point by Scanning

Staff at a store, a locker station, or a hub do not need the full Admin Center. The Scanner App lets them scan a parcel and move it to the right status, and you decide per user group which statuses are allowed. At Pickup Service Point and At Delivery Service Point are both on that list, next to At Warehouse, Out for Delivery, Delivered, and the rest. Give a counter clerk only the two service point statuses, give a hub supervisor more, and every scan lands on the order in the same second.
