The 13 best fleet management software in 2026: I reviewed them all

Ask a trucking company what fleet management software is. They’ll say dash cams and engine codes. Ask a courier company and they’ll say drivers and orders.

Both are right. They’re buying different products. Most “best of” lists mix them up.

I’ve spent years working with courier companies. Onro now runs delivery operations for more than 200 of them in over 50 countries. So I know what a dispatcher needs on a busy Monday morning.

For this list, I reviewed each tool myself. I went through their pricing pages, product docs and help centers. I also read their G2, Capterra and Trustpilot reviews, the good ones and the angry ones.

I grouped 13 tools by the job they do. Onro, Upper and SuiteFleet run delivery work. Seven tools track vehicles: Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Azuga, Linxup, Spytec GPS and ABAX. Fleetio, Coast and FleetRabbit handle maintenance.

What is fleet management software?

Fleet management software helps a business run its vehicles and drivers. There are two kinds.

Vehicle-first software starts with a device in each vehicle. It shows location, driving behavior, engine faults and compliance data. Maintenance tools like Fleetio also sit here.

Delivery-first software starts with the order. It assigns jobs, plans routes, tracks drivers by phone and records proof of delivery. For a courier company, this is where most fleet work happens.

Many businesses use one of each. So first ask which problem you’re trying to fix.

Onro: fleet management built around the delivery, not the engine

Onro is courier software for businesses whose fleet exists to deliver. Most of Onro’s customers are courier companies and delivery services.

For Onro, fleet management means the driver and the job. Drivers sign up in the app and upload their papers. Auto dispatch sends each order to the best free driver. Route optimization orders the stops. Live driver tracking shows everyone on one map. Drivers take proof of delivery at the door.

Onro also handles driver pay. That matters if half your drivers are freelancers. There’s a driver wallet, per-order or commission pay, and cash on delivery tracking.

The Recipient AI Agent chats with customers on WhatsApp or email. It confirms drop-off pins and answers “where is my package.” Customers using it see about 40% fewer failed first attempts.

Upper is a route planner for teams running recurring multi-stop routes. Distribution, field service, waste collection.

It plans routes, tracks drivers and captures proof of delivery. Customers get a text and a tracking page. It has no customer booking or pricing, so it’s a planner, not a courier platform.

SuiteFleet: delivery software with deep ERP links

SuiteFleet is a last-mile delivery platform founded in Dubai in 2020. It has a dispatch console, driver app and warehouse app. Customers get tracking links by SMS or WhatsApp.

Its strength is ERP. It connects natively to NetSuite, SAP, Odoo and Dynamics. Few delivery tools go that deep.

I also like its 3PL module. It tracks shipments you hand to outside carriers in the same dashboard. And re-attempts don’t count as new tasks. Someone there has clearly run a courier.

Pricing: $449 a month for 5,000 tasks, $699 for 10,000 and $1,199 for 25,000. Unlimited users and drivers. Route optimization is an add-on from $249 a month.

Best for

Mid-size delivery services and 3PLs that run an ERP.

Samsara: the heavyweight for vehicle safety

Samsara is the biggest fleet tech company here. It reported $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue in September 2026.

It’s hardware first. AI dash cams flag risky driving and feed coaching. ELD keeps US fleets compliant. It has route planning, but it’s not a courier platform. There’s no customer booking or job pricing.

Pricing: Quote only. Tech.co estimates $27 to $33 per vehicle per month, plus $99 to $148 per device, on a three-year contract. 30-day hardware trial.

Mid-size and large truck fleets focused on safety.

Motive: trucking safety with some dispatch

Motive, formerly KeepTruckin, has close to 100,000 customers. Most are trucking fleets in the US and Canada.

Like Samsara, it’s built on dash cams, ELD and GPS. It also has its own fuel card. It goes a bit further into delivery than other vehicle tools. You get dispatch, stop workflows and proof of delivery in the driver app. It has no customer booking or parcel routing, so it won’t run a courier business.

Pricing: Quote only. Outside estimates: about $25 per vehicle per month, or $35 to $45 with the AI dash cam. Contracts run 12 to 36 months.

US and Canadian trucking and field fleets.

Geotab started in 2000 and connects about six million vehicles. You buy through resellers. A small device plugs into each vehicle.

Big fleets like it because it’s open. Its Marketplace has 400+ add-ons. Basic routing is included. For proof of delivery, you’ll need a partner tool.

Pricing: Quote only, through resellers. Geotab says the device is now part of the subscription. Outside estimates are $20 to $40 per vehicle per month.

Best for

Large mixed fleets, including the public sector.

Azuga is owned by Bridgestone. Each driver gets a safety score, and you can reward good drivers. That makes safety a game, not a telling-off.

It’s also the vehicle tool closest to delivery work. Azuga Routes plans multi-stop routes and captures proof of delivery. Routes is priced through sales, so ask.

Pricing: $25, $30 or $35 per vehicle per month. Higher tiers update location more often. Contracts are often 36 months.

Pricing: $25 per vehicle per month. The device is $69, or free on a three-year contract. 30-day money-back guarantee.
